Avant Japan, an offshoot of the avant garde music record label DIW, was curated by John Zorn before he created the Tzadik label with famed jazz producer Kazunori Sugiyama. There were a total of 81 releases with musicians including such greats as John Zorn, Naked City, Derek Bailey, Buckethead, Eugene Chadbourne, Dave Douglas, Erik Friedlander, Wayne Horvitz, Haino Keiji, Ikue Mori, Bobby Previte, Zeena Parkins, and Marc Ribot just to name a few.
